PURPOSE STATEMENT

To glorify God by sharing in the enjoyment and care of horses.

MISSION STATEMENT:

To  provide local horsemanship coaching using the musical analogy of harmony so that humans and horses can get in tune with each other.

CORE VALUES:

Safety – Harmony Horsemanship will prioritize safe horse handling techniques including preparing the horse on the ground before riding, gaining control of the horse’s mind and body, reading the horse’s body language, and utilizing tools appropriately.

Fun – Harmony Horsemanship will work to maintain the enjoyment in the training/coaching process by putting a purpose to all exercises, by helping students learn to use their imaginations so the basic yields/patterns do not become boring drills, but rather creative challenges, and by tapping into the innate playfulness of the horse.

Softness – Harmony Horsemanship will teach students to develop a sense of feel in communicating with horses that cultivates willingness in mind and responsiveness in body, and it will teach horses to yield willingly to any cue and to exhibit an overall nature of surety in their work.

Foundation – Harmony Horsemanship will provide a basic framework of training based on ground preparation and yield/pattern mastery that prepares horses and students for advancement into high levels of performance and work.

Service Quality – Harmony Horsemanship will offer expert guidance in horse training as well as professional, relationship-based customer service.

Harmony Horsemanship is a training company that teaches horses and humans to get in tune with each other in order to establish a pleasurable, functional partnership, much like a musician must learn to tune his or her instrument in order to create or perform any style of music.

The “tuning” process utilized by Harmony Horsemanship is based on principles of natural horsemanship combined with elements of music theory to produce a product of both creativity and discipline that enables the horse and human team to make any metaphorical “music” they desire. As stated in the beloved Rogers and Hammerstein musical,  The Sound of Music, “When you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything.” By applying the Octave of Excellence™  and the TSTM Sequence™ to their interaction with their horses, students will be able to pursue any equine endeavor, and their horses will participate as exuberant partners.
